Yesteryear Collection

With the introduction of the 1953 Corvette, Chevrolet showed the world it had the American sports car. But Corvette could not rest on its reputation and, year in and year out, Chevrolet modified, improved and advanced both the performance and styling of the Corvette models. Offering fuel-injection for the first time, the 1957 Corvette advertised that it offered one horsepower for every cubic inch.

Indeed, that was exactly what the lucky driver got with the new fuel-injected V-8 engine: 283 cubic inches that delivered an awesome 283 horsepower. Models that lacked fuel-injection still produced an impressive 220 horsepower. The previous year, Corvette had introduced a three-speed manual floor-shift transmission as standard, and the 1957 Corvette continued the trend and made a four-speed manual option as well. But it was not just engineering that defined the new 1957 Vette. The world witnessed the debut of the handsome scallop on the sides that would become a signature of Corvettes for the next five years. With its power, sleek design and detachable hardtop roof, the '57 Vette provided a hint at what Corvette would continue to offer throughout the years - the utmost in innovation, engineering and design.
